Do I Need to Resubmit a New Copy of the I-130 Application?

Help Desk:

I filed my I-130 application for my wife about 3 weeks ago, but I have not receives a receipt notice from USCIS. Please let me know what I should do? Do I need to resubmit a new copy of the I-130 application? Thank you very much.

Answer:

This is a common problem that USCIS does not send a receipt notice to an applicant in time. If sometimes there are computer system problems, they are unable to generate notices. Failure to get a receipt does not usually interfere your case processing.

You can call the National Customer Service Center (NCSC): 1-800-375-5283, to see if they are able to find your name in the computer. If they can not find your petition in their computer system, you may have to wait for a while, before you resubmit a new copy of the application.
